about

This was my 1st album as DJ Slammon Salmin. This is when I really came into my own as a DJ, Producer, and Mcee. The album started with recording the beat to "Chops" in my dorm room at UK in 2004 with JS Axis' mini-guitar. After getting Pleasureville's Finest - King Greene on board, the album took off and I began to pursue other friends to be on most of the songs.

The concept for the album is actually pretty interesting. Beyond being an album full of features and shoutouts from old school partners, each song carries over an element from the last song. For example, in "Sands of Time" I freestyled my verse. This element then leads into the next track - "Intercoastal Freestyle." Another example is from the choice cut "Rock. Rap. Scat." Greezy put down all the guitar, as he does in the following joint - "Chilski Wilson's Party Anthem." This holds true in different ways throughout all 20 tracks. Can you figure out each way?

My man Sami inspired the name of the album. One day at The Album, we were discussing my new Mcee name, as I had been changing it once a year for the previous 4 or 5 years. Sami said, "Salmon? You ever had salmon croquettes? Them shits is delicious!" Jaja, some croquettes are also tasty.

Excuse the cursing, lack of respect for females, and idol worship of partying. This is just where I found myself at that time frame of my life. I debated in my head rereleasing this album, now that it doesn't really reflect my views 6 years later. Truth is, I love this album, so take it with a grain of salt. It was just a dope bus stop on my journey full of pain from relationships, sick beats, and lyrical mastery.

Shoutout to King Greene, Smeegalo, Provoke, J-No, Oldie Han, Coast, Monroe Kelly, Ghetto Frank, Momma, Pops, C-Dub, Boogie, J-Smooth & Eshing for putting in mad work in my apartment studio at NTC. Enjoy my last piece of work recorded on a $5 mic with Magix Music Maker! Peace and love!
