A few days before I left Spain, after living in Valencia for the Spring semester of 2008, I realized I hadn't recorded anything of my own. I wrote the lyrics in literature class and had "El Portero" revise them. With only classic elements of Flamenco (and a hand drum I bought from a Senegalese man during Fallas), "Sigo Buscando el Duende" danced it's way into existence.
This song deals with my fascination of el Duende, the magical force that guides the singer, dancer, and guitar player in Flamenco music. Though it is a dark force, it is enchanting and it eventually lead me to a better understanding of life and culture in Spain.
