I fabricated the idea for this song while playing around with the progression after work most nights in Viña. The song has nothing to do with my own relationship. In Chile they say, "Santiago es Chile," because you have to go to the capital to get anything done. I had this idea that if a dude broke up with his woman, he would have to head back to Chile to start over, and "De Vuelta en Santiago" was born.
When crafting the actual song, I wanted it to be like the finale to an epic concert - The moment when an entire gospel choir comes out on stage and everyone is singing and playing their hearts out on the last number of the set. The kind of moment where you finally got out of your seat to dance, shout, stomp and make a raucous.
