My last month in Chile was not the hardest for me personally, but for the lives of my Chilean brothers and sisters. First there was an 8.2 earthquake in Iquique to the north. We were on tsunami alert down in the central port. Then there was the fire that destroyed thousands of homes in the cerros of Valpo, which hit much closer to home. In the middle of that, I was blessed to travel to Bolivia and see the definition of 3rd world played out before my eyes. All of these things occurred while I was thinking, "Trying Times, show me when it's not!"
This song wasn't originally slated for the album. Another classic rock tinged beat, codename "D Drop," eventually was cut, because of the severity of the events at the time and the influence they had on me. When I returned home to KY, I was able to get Logan "El Oso" Graham to put down some drums and rhythm guitar. After that, I got up and coming superstar Free Love to lay down a solo for the most gripping track on the album.
